Annaita is a Spiritual & Holistic Healer who recently moved to Middletown, CT from India. Experienced in applying varied healing modalities to a wide range of situations, her primary focus has been to heal through empowerment.

In these inter-active workshops, Annaita shares her deep understanding of life, holism and spirituality enabling you to rise above life’s challenges, live a healthy, fulfilled & confident life.

You will explore simple concepts of living in awareness that: open you up to the wonders of life; discover who you are; let go of fear and all that keeps you stuck. You create your reality and as co-creator of this world, find out how you can bring to it and you, peace, harmony, health and abundance.

Life is never easy and change only happens when we change from within. In today’s climate of hardship, ill-health, corruption and inequality it is often difficult to see the Light. The purpose of this workshop is to empower you to see yours.

Be the change you wish to see. All you need is Willingness.

This week’s Topic: “The Age of Amazing New Beginnings”

A Workshop: Aligned With Source is an Inter-Active talk/workshop with a purpose of bringing understanding to life’s challenges and empowering us to deal with them. 2011 brought up issues that we needed to focus on for growth in various areas of our lives, both personal & global. As we settle into the 2012 we are once again being reminded of what more we need to keep or let go of. This will be an ongoing process in this new age as we continually adjust our perspectives to align with new and finer energies. This session will enable you to see through to what is needed now as a key to continuing the processes already started with smooth transitioning.

This week’s Topic: “Giving Direction to the Power Within”

A Workshop: Aligned With Source is an Inter-Active talk/workshop with a purpose of bringing understanding to life’s challenges and empowering us to deal with them. Whether we have consciously or unconsciously worked at or even ignored the challenges presented to us in 2011 by the Universe, we need to make those & more shifts now. This in turn leads to a deeper understanding of who you are. Some will feel the urge to move in new directions, some will be clearer of their further role in existing situations & occupations. Empowered with this clarity & urge, now is the time to sow the seeds of the course you wish to take and to new paths you wish to forge. During this continued workshop, you will be prompted to commit Self in new directions. For those who are still unsure or confused, come & be open to exploring with courage your deepest desires.

Un Buda is the brilliant feature film debut of director Diego Rafecas, a Zen teacher in Argentina. The film follows two brothers orphaned as children when their parents were taken by the military during the Dirty Wars of the 1970s in Argentina. Tomas (Agustin Markert) is now a drifting and withdrawn young man who experiments with ascetic practices and has an instinctive compassion for others. His older brother Rafael, played by Rafecas, is a university philosophy professor, detached and alone. Their struggles with each other and the world around them in Buenos Aires take a dramatic turn when they find themselves at a rural Zen center.

The trio came together for the first time at the University of Connecticut in 2009, united by a shared interest in folk music, especially (but not limited to) Irish and American folk songs and fiddle tunes.

After months of informally trading songs and tunes, everywhere from hootenannies and farmer’s markets to small, lamp-lit house concerts, Ben finally got to thinking:

“Why don’t we start a band?” Thus, with an already-massive repertoire of traditional music in tow, Shinbone Alley was born.

Each of the three musicians brings something unique into the mix. As a youngster, Chris was instructed in the classical Suzuki method of violin; his interest in music hung on by a thread, and his rented fiddle inched ever closer to a blaze-of-glory, courtesy of the family fireplace. Yet, as fate would have it, the years to come would yield two invaluable sources of musical inspiration for Chris: the fiddlers Stacy Phillips and Joe Gerhard, who introduced him to various styles of traditional music. Before long, the young violinist was hooked. A couple fiddle camps and some useless New England Fiddle contest trophies later, Chris met up with Ben at UConn. The pair regularly attend sessions statewide and supply musical accompaniment for the UConn Irish Dance Club.

Tyler began playing folk music upon arriving at UConn in the fall of 2009. Primarily a guitarist, he was interested specifically in the folk music of Harry Smith’s Anthology, but through meeting Ben (and careful record collecting) he became enamored with the swirling, breathless melodies of traditional Irish tunes. A restless musical polymath, Tyler performs original, often highly experimental music when not playing folk tunes with Chris and Ben. He is often found performing his own hazy interpretations of old songs, occasionally accompanied by New Haven’s equally restless traditionalists, Dr. Caterwaul’s Cadre of Clairvoyant Claptraps.

From the fateful first moment Ben heard traditional Irish music by listening to a tattered old cassette tape, he knew he must learn to play. After a few rash eBay purchases and innumerable hours of practice, he hit the CT sessions to build a tune repertoire. Throughout the years, many musicians across the state have informally mentored him, including the men of The Morgans, who sparked his initial interest. During his freshman year at UConn, Ben joined a well-established and enduring traditional Irish band, Full Gael, and continues to play regularly with them. Recently, he has had the privilege of playing with Robbie O’Connell and Dan Milner at the 32nd Annual Mystic Sea Music Festival. Ben is a savvy multi-instrumentalist, yet his first and still greatest passion is the concertina.

When not performing as Shinbone Alley, the three can be found at the University of Connecticut, where all are still undergraduates, though they keep their respective instruments (and yes, that’s a lot of instruments) close at hand.
