KIDS ARTS

Kids Arts, the Middletown Commission on the Arts-sponsored 5 week camp for children, ages 6-14, finished up this past Wednesday, August 4th with a presentation held at The Buttonwood Tree. North End Arts Rising (NEAR), facilitates this program and is grateful to the city for the opportunity to work with these 60 children during the summer. Families, friends, commissioners an lots of children filled our space as children sang and talked about their experiences, revealing their developing talents, artwork, and a newspaper called The Inside Scoop.

There are many people involved in this endeavor and I wish I could thank them all but it would be impossible for me.  I wish to thank a few folks below, and to all who were involved, but not named here, please accept our gratitude. On behalf of the parents, the children and those in our organization, THANK YOU! We are grateful to have this program to share and develop the artistic nature in our children. We made new friends, learned and had fun!

To all on the Commission of the Arts, Mayor Giuliano, Macdonough school personnel: Jon Romeo, Kelli Swan, JJ and Jeremy, our teachers: Shane Grant, Lauren Agnelli, John Ward, Emily Ward & Juan Rivera, our counselors: Chrissy Cotter, Faccara Raines, Sharon Richards, Mark Adamiak, Paul D’Antonio & Tyler Sheil, and our musician friend, a heartfelt THANK YOU!  Together, we are keeping the Arts alive in Middletown!

Some of the children’s artwork will remain at TBT, newspapers can be found here and you can also see a bit of last year’s work hanging from our ceiling. Come by on Tuesday mornings 11-3, or during our events to check it all out! Look for more photos on our web page, coming soon (I hope).

Our next event is Friday, August 20th, when we present Sandra and Eric Lichter. Keep us in mind when deciding where to spend your time off – more great events Aug 27 – 29.  Peace …
