The evening will also feature a number musical performances.

David Houston has a Bachelor of Arts in English from Connecticut College, 1995 where he was awarded a Prize in Poetry and an Honorable Mention To The Academy of American Poets

This is David’s sixth reading at The Buttonwood Tree since it has opened.

He read at the very first reading with four other local writers which included Susan Allison, Don Barkin, Danielle Truscott, and Billy Keogh.

While attending College, and after graduating he taught Poetry classes at four Ct Prisons under the auspices of The Connecticut Prison Association

David read at Knitting Factory in New York City

David taught a Summer writing camp held at The Buttonwood Tree for three summers that was sponsored by Middletown Commission on the Arts, and with affiliation to Oddfellows Playhouse, Community Health Center, and TBT.
He also volunteered for two years in an After school Program at The Community Health Center.

Before Ibis Books and TBT opened he spent much time helping Susan and Stephan Alison, as well as many others planning and organizing ideas and coordinating events which led to much time behind the scenes sending out fliers, calendars, working events, and getting people such as Amanda Palmer forming member of The Dresden Dolls to perform there.
