June Art Exhibit: Kevin Cox

June 1 - June 30

This month we bring you the art of Kevin Cox. These paintings will be hanging in our art gallery for the entire month of June and will be for sale.

Be sure to check out the reception for this exhibit on June 3rd, 5:00 – 8:00 PM.

Born and raised in Memphis, TN, Kevin studied art at the University of Memphis and moved to Connecticut in 2013. After “living in a bubble” for most of his life, Brian decided to branch out and see a new perspective of the country with a couple of friends (after all, at the time he was almost 30 and still living with his parents). The Millennial Dream. Kevins says that he prefers to paint people as a coping mechanism for his social anxiety disorder. He also claims to have horrible A.D.D. (not hyperactive, so no “H”)  Currently, Kevin lives in Middletown, CT with his partner Brian.

Says Kevin: “I am an aggressive introvert. However, I am at the same time fascinated by people. I like capturing people both as they really are and who they are trying to project, a moment in time captured of modern life. I want to capture their authentic self, even if it is while they are pretending. I hope that my artwork is voyeuristic – looking in on a private moment. Because of social media, we are a society of voyeur enthusiasts in a way. Using social media as well as using my own “creeper photos,” photos taken of people while going about my daily life, I hope to capture a realistic time capsule of the times in which we live.”
