Slim & St. George – Blues & Beyond!
February 19 @ 8:00 pm - 10:00 pm
Michael St. George is best known as a fiery Blues guitarist, but accompanied by River City Slim on harp and vocals, the duo presents a diverse repertoire that runs the gamut from Bob Dylan to Bob Marley with several stops along the way for the Blues.
Michael is a graduate of Berklee who has played in a wide variety of settings. In NYC, where he lived for a number of years and in his hometown of Springfield he has played in Blues and Jazz bands including the Easy Baby band that won the CT Blues Challenge and represented CT at the International Blues Challenge in Memphis. He toured with British singer Julie Grant in the 80’s and co-wrote music for the major motion picture “Welcome to the Dollhouse” in 1995. In 1998 he also recorded with the Cash family at Johnny Cash’s studio in Hendersonville, TN for a Dixie Frog release that also featured Marty Stuart.
River City Slim has been playing drums since Jr. High. He later cut his teeth on the harmonica, playing and singing with local faves The Blues Blasters throughout the 90’s. He has led two highly successful bands – River City Slim & The Zydeco Hogs and The Mighty Soul Drivers. The Hogs have toured the East Coast from Boston to Fort Lauderdale for the last 20 years; The Mighty Soul Drivers have been as far afield as Memphis TN. Slim has also presented a popular weekly Blues/Roots radio show on WWUH 91.3 West Hartford for over 25 years.
Slim & St. George joined forces in the Fall of 2019 and have fine-tuned their repertoire to include everything from the Blues they both love so well to classic Country, Roots-y classic Rock and even a few Jazz-y instrumentals.
